The Department of Sustainable Corporate Development of the Institute for Machine Tools and Factory Management (IWF) at TU Berlin is located at the Production Technology Centre Berlin (PTZ). Next to university teaching, our employees work in national and international research projects and are active in national expert committees in an advisory capacity. In addition, the CIRP-sponsored Global Conference on Sustainable Manufacturing is organized by the department for many years.
The core of our teaching activities lies in the transfer of methods and tools for the planning and operation of productions in the context of sustainable value creation. In addition, the English-language Master's program Global Production Engineering (GPE) is organized at the department and offers students an internationally oriented Master's program. One of the goals of our research at the department is to create new forms of teaching for production engineers in both academic and industrial contexts, in order to increase the productivity of teaching and learning. Further information on the courses offered at the department can be found at Study and Teaching .
Our research activities focus on developing methods and procedures to improve competitiveness while taking ecological, economic and social aspects of producing companies and factory networks into account. Thereby we consider internal planning and control processes as well as comprehensive concepts such as the circular economy. Further information can be found at Research .
